Plan ‘A’: Evacuation
1. When a bomb or fire threat is received, a general evacuation will take place
2. Evacuation comprises the following:
2.1 Quickly lock all cabinets and safe. Ensure that all money and all valuable items are put away,
2.2 The principal will let the teachers know about a general evacuation by ringing the bell 5 short rings.
2.3 The evacuation of classes in the quadrangle will be as follows:
2.3.1 Classes 18, 14, 13 must exit the building by the door at the girls toilet.
2.3.2 Classes 12, 10, 9, must exit the building by the door at the boys’ toilet.
2.3.3 Classes8, 6, 5 must exit the building by the door at the library.
2.3.4 The teacher and learners in the computer room will exit the building at the main entrance door of the admin offices.
2.3.5 All these classes will gather at the furthest point of the soccer field.
2.4 The evacuation of the new classrooms will be as follows:
2.4.1 Classes 29, 24, 23, 22 will exit the area by passing at the back of the classes to go the gathering point
2.4.2 Classes 21, 20, 25 will exit the area by the passage at class number 20.
2.4.3 Classes 19, 26 will exit the area by passing at the toilets.
2.4.4 All these classes will gather under the roof at the girls’ playground.
2.5 Everyone must move far away from the school building and assemble on the assigned point of the school ground.
2.6 The daily registers must be taken with when leaving the class.
2.7 Classroom doors must be left open.
2.8 The teacher in class 10 must check the storeroom and change room of the cleaners.
2.9 The teacher in the class 12 must check the boys’ toilet and take any pupils with him/her.
2.10 The teacher in class 18 must check the adult toilet.
2.11 The teacher in class 14 must check the girls’ toilet and take any pupils with him/her.
2.12 The teacher in class 19 must check the boys’ toilet and take any pupils with him/ her.
2.13 The teacher in class 26 must check the girls’ toilet and take any pupils with him/ her.
2.14 Unused rooms must be kept locked at all times, so as to keep out unauthorized persons.
2.15 Bombs or containers that may contain bombs, may not be touched, moved or tampered with in any way.
2.16 No stories or rumours about bomb threats may be spread.
